We recommend and feed Wendy Volhard’s Natural Diet Foundation 2 food for all dogs and are pleased to be a distributor (#005) for this specially formulated and proven diet plan—The Smart Diet for Smart Dogs and Owners! For over 39 years, all Chilbrook dogs have been fed a natural diet, to which we attribute their long lives (our dogs average 16–18 years) and good health. Now, feeding a natural diet is super easy. Just add water and meat to make a balanced dog food. NDF 2 contains all the non-meat ingredients your dog needs for a healthy, vigorous and long life. NDF 2 is made with whole foods and herbs from farms in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. The recipe behind NDF 2 has been clinically tested for over 30 years and is appropriate for all life stages. It is hypoallergenic—no GMO products used. Ten lbs is the equivalent of 40 pounds of dry food. Refrigerate after opening. Contents: 10lbs/4/535 kg Guaranteed Analysis: Once raw meat is added, the percentage of protein goes up to 28–34%, depending on the type of protein you use. Exactly how much to feed your dog is difficult to determine. Dogs, just like people, have different metabolisms and activity levels. The amounts suggested in the following chart are guidelines. For very active dogs, the amounts can increase to double those listed below.
The transition: Add a small amount of NDF and meat to your dog’s food and mix with water. As the week progresses, gradually increase the amount of NDF, meat and water, at the same decreasing the kibble by a corresponding amount, until you have phased out the kibble. (If you are feeding the same meat protein for 6 days, you may want to feed another protein, canned mackerel or cottage cheese on the 7th day.) At the end of the transition period, weigh your dog. Weigh him again after 4 weeks. Increase or decrease the amount you feed accordingly. NDF is a dehydrated product, so you need to wait 2–3 minutes for the water to re-hydrate the food (it will quadruple in volume). A 10-lb bag of NDF is equivalent to about 40 lbs of kibble. Puppies: 7 weeks to 7 months: Puppies 7 weeks through teething are fed four times a day. If you have a 12-lb puppy, use the guideline for a 25-lb dog. Divide the breakfast into two meals, and feed one at 8 a.m. and the other at noon. Do the same for the evening meal, following directions for a 25-lb dog and divide the meal in half. Feed one at 4 p.m. and the other at 8 p.m. When they are through teething, reduce feeding to three times a day. Around 6–7 months, reduce to two feedings, which will continue throughout the life of your pet. Gradually increase the amount you feed as your puppy grows. Dogs go through growth spurts up until 2 years of age and you may have to increase the amount fed for a short period of time. Ingredients: The meat you add will be the heaviest ingredient, followed by: NDF 2 does NOT contain corn, rye, gluten meal, soy, spinach, celery, bell peppers, tomatoes, artificial preservatives, artificial coloring, trans fats or genetically modified products. Refrigerate after opening. Store unopened bags in a cool, dark place, a refrigerator or freezer.
