JUMPING ON PEOPLE is annoying and potentially a dangerous habit. There are two great ways to stop that behavior; one is to turn your back on the dog as you see him ready to jump up. Don’t say a word until he quiets down, and then give him the attention he seeks. Another way is to give the dog something else to do instead, such as “Sit," pay attention, get a treat or praise. This works really well with puppies who learn from the beginning the best way to approach humans is to sit and look up for a treat to come.
